Philosophy

Every school has an educational philosophy, or set of beliefs about teaching and learning that they adhere to.  These beliefs provide the principles that guide the educational direction of the school.

A More Perfect Union asks you to think about what the ideal school might look like, according to you and your partner, and then design it.  This is a great opportunity to think about everything you have ever liked or disliked about school and your education and imagine how it could be different.  What should school look like?

Your first stop on this journey should be the Philosophy Resources page.  There you will find four different philosophical approaches to teaching and learning-- project-based learning, game-based learning, democratic/free schooling, and sustainable schools.  These approaches seek to make school more relevant, engaging, authentic and ethical.

After learning about some different approaches to education, craft your own philosophy.
